Sunday Setlist

(This post is part of Sunday Setlists over at Fred McKinnon.)

We were one of the few churches in our area that actually had church Sunday. It just wouldn't be Oklahoma without a spring snow/ice storm and this year was no exception. We didn't cancel service and while we were missing a few people, most still made it.

This week was completely different than our usual. We use contemporary worship music in our Sunday morning service, but starting this week, we've decided to use 5th Sundays as a kickback to more traditional music. It was awesome! I might be a little biased because I lead our Wednesday pm service, which always has a traditional sound. But I had several people tell me how much they enjoyed it. And even more important, people were obviously, visibly worshiping the Lord. It doesn't get much better than that.

Power in the Blood
He Set Me Free
I'm So Glad Jesus Set Me Free
offering
Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
It Is Well With My Soul
How Great Thou Art (chorus only)
Communion - Nothing but the Blood

We had 5 vocalists this week (usually we have anywhere from 4 - 9, depending on who makes it). I have to say I really like the tightness of the smaller group. It really cuts out the phrasing issues and general "mushiness".

One more funny little note. Several times over the last week I had contemplated calling the vocalist who was leading this week. There were a few songs that were just very, very heavy on my heart and I wanted to suggest them. I ended up never contacting him because I didn't want him to think that I was trying to take over in any way. Well, every single one of those songs ended up on his setlist. Good stuff.

Pastor's obviously a basketball fan and this is obviously March Madness time, lol. Sermon? Fouls and how to stay in the game, whether you've given them or received them. It was powerful.
